Starting Out

Get the basics right. Check the time and location of the interview thoroughly and ensure you know how to get there. Rushing on the day can leave you flustered in the interview, not a good start.

Research

Find out a much as you can about the job and the company you are hoping to join. The more you know about them the more enthusiastic about the position you will seem, and the easier a task it will feel like to integrate you within the firm. Also, prepare yourself mentally in advance. Collect your thoughts well before, not on the way, it will show.

Format

Even if you have been told the interview will follow a particular format (e.g. one-on-one) this could change at the last minute. Be prepared for any interview format.

Attention

Make sure you are alert at all times as failure to seem attentive and on-the-ball could easily come across as not being serious about the role. You will be employed based on the connection your interviewer(s) feel with you, if that potential bond is broken at the interview you will not likely be given the chance to repair it.

Body Language

Consider your body language at all times, ensure you come across as professional. Slouching in your chair will project an image of a slouch at work.

Details matter. Everything you say and do will be scrutinised so consider everything from your attire to your responses carefully.
